What You Learn
You will become informed about methods for teaching in middle school and secondary education settings in content areas such as history, science, English, and math. Discover how to create a classroom setting and design a curriculum that builds upon and deepens the knowledge that older students have already accrued. You’ll also learn teaching philosophies according to local, state, and national trends, as well as how to utilize culturally responsive practices.
How You Learn
Courses are offered in both an asynchronous and synchronous online format with weekly evening Zoom classes determined by each professor. Typically, students take two to three, eight-week courses per semester (Spring, Summer, and Fall semesters). Fieldwork begins with the first course.
Career Outcomes
The knowledge you will develop in the two specialized areas of Secondary and Special Education will also make you more marketable to schools seeking to hire new teachers, allowing you to advance your career.
