For
Individuals who wish to earn a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership including Principal and Supervision Certificates. Candidates need 3 years of teaching experience under the Standard license to be eligible for Supervisor Certification in the state of New Jersey. Candidates need 5 years of teaching experience under the Standard license to be eligible for Principal Certification in the state of New Jersey. Candidates with a Master’s degree & evidence of 3 years teaching (Standard licensure required) are eligible for nomination for the Supervisor Certification through the NJDOE upon completion of the 12 credit sequence. Candidates with a Master’s degree & evidence of 5 years teaching (Standard licensure required) are eligible for nomination for the Supervisor and Principal Certifications through the NJDOE upon completion of the 30 credit sequence (Phase I & Phase II). Candidates must successfully pass the required SLLA exam. Supervisor and Principal applicants must hold a Masters degree in Education or an educationally-based content area.
What You Learn
This program emphasizes innovative problem-solving through caring leadership, encouraging reflective practice based on professional knowledge of curriculum and instruction. To uphold a position as both an educator and a leader in the community and in diverse school settings, you will develop a strong understanding of the philosophies and principles guiding various leadership models. You’ll also learn teaching philosophies according to local, state, and national trends, as well as how to utilize culturally responsive practices.
How You Learn
Courses are offered in both an asynchronous and synchronous online format with weekly evening Zoom classes determined by each professor. Typically, students take one course at a time, taking two, eight-week courses each semester (Spring, Summer, and Fall semesters).
