The Master of Education with a concentration in Instructional Design and Technology is for professionals seeking to advance their skills in planning, designing and developing learning strategies applying best practices and technology to support the development of accessible content, curriculum and other training materials.
What You Learn
The program will cover current trends in education, the role of distance education, and integrating technology in teaching and learning. Course material will guide you through how to create effective digital learning environments to support instructional designers in developing instruction that is active, constructive and reflective. You’ll also learn how to plan and deliver research-based professional development, implement instructional design principles, and address issues of security, privacy and accessibility, along with legal and ethical considerations for technology use.
How You Learn
Most courses are offered in an 8-week format and are available fully asynchronous online. You’ll also complete a practicum, which requires 90 hours of experience, along with a graduate research capstone. The practicum may be completed on-site or in a remote fashion with a mentor and practicum placement at a distant location. The selection of practicum placements occurs between the practicum supervisor and the student.
