This program is based on the International Literacy Association (ILA) and the Illinois Reading standards and is designed to help prepare Illinois educators who want to specialize as a Reading Teacher.
In this program, you will learn enhanced reading skills that will enable you to work one-to-one or in small groups with students that are experiencing difficulty reading at grade level.
The purpose of the ESOL Endorsement program is to prepare individuals to serve in ESOL teaching positions or general education classrooms with an EL population in PK-12 schools including, but not limited to public, waiver, charter schools, and private schools (i.e. faith-based schools, early learning centers, hospitals, juvenile detention centers).
The purpose of the Reading Endorsement program is to give classroom teachers additional knowledge to meet literacy needs of learners across the grade levels. Emphasis will be on understanding readers and the reading process, linking assessment and instruction, and using instructional strategies in specific content courses.
For certified teachers who wish to develop specific knowledge related to reading and language development, assessment, instruction, and remediation of reading disability. Candidates must hold a Georgia professional T-4 certificate or higher.
The Dyslexia and Reading Disabilities Graduate Certificate program is designed to develop teachers’ efficacy in providing comprehensive reading instruction that is highly effective for students with dyslexia and for all struggling readers.
This program is designed for certified teachers seeking a program leading to a reading specialist certificate, K-12. Upon completion of the program, certified educators are prepared to serve as a building/campus-level literacy specialist or coach.
